If you’re thinking about LASIK eye surgery, don’t be fooled by ads for discount pricing. The price may look good, but in some cases, it may be too good to be true. It might be better for you to look into all the benefits that you can get from your insurance and HSA or FSA account instead of going after a “deal.”
What Those “Deals” Really Mean
A deal on LASIK isn’t always a great idea, and those low prices may be too good to be true. The promotion might only apply to a patient with a specific prescription or it may exclude patients who have astigmatism. On the other hand, it might only be valid on procedures that are done with older technology. This means they could use a blade or an older laser during the procedure instead of using the latest technology. Reading the fine print is important when trying to understand what “deal” you really are getting.
Insurance Discount on LASIK
While insurance doesn’t usually cover LASIK procedures, Vision insurance providers will typically offer a discount on the procedure. Your provider may list a “preferred” LASIK provider, but even if we are out of your network, we still gladly accept insurance discounts and are willing to work with you and your provider.
HSA and FSA
Another great way to cover the cost of your LASIK procedure is to use your Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA). You can contribute to these accounts each month, and these balances can sometimes rollover into the new year, depending on your employer.
